What We Know
H. Moser has introduced two new watches to its Endeavour collection for Geneva Watch Days 2023: the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack and the Endeavour Centre Seconds Vantablack. The pair is a nice extension of Moser's use of the blacker-than-black Vantablack material that it's been using in watches for the last few years, from 2018's Perpetual Moon Concept to last year's gorgeous Streamliner Tourbillon. Like last year's tourbillon, the tourbillon steals the show here too.
Both watches feature a 40mm 5N red gold case and a crown adorned with Moser's "M." The Endeavour Centre Seconds measures 11.2mm thick and has gold hands floating above the Vantablack dial. Inside ticks Moser's automatic HMC200, with a 72-hour power reserve and Straumann hairspring (the double hairspring made by Moser's Precision Engineering since 2007). H. Moser has been using and playing with Vantablack for a few years now (remember the 2019 April Fool's joke?), and it's a material composed of carbon nanostructures that absorbs 99.965% of light and is said to be the darkest substance on Earth.
The Tourbillon Concept Vantablack is an extension of Moser's Concept line, its watches that strip away the logos and markings usually placed on watch dials, opting instead for a clean, open dial that lets the dial and complications speak for themselves. And here, the one-minute flying tourbillon does all the talking.
The Endeavour Centre Seconds has an MSRP of $27,600, while the Tourbillon Concept costs $82,500.

What We Think
While they don't necessarily bring anything dramatically new to the Endeavour lineup, this is a good-looking pair of watches. Black and gold is a classic combination, rendered even more dramatic with the blacker-than-black Vantablack and Moser's 5N red gold. The Tourbillon Concept Vantablack feels like a dressed-up take on last year's Streamliner Tourbillon in Vantablack, while the Centre Seconds is its more demur little sibling.
The tourbillon on that Streamliner, stuck in the middle of a seemingly vast black hole of a dial is mesmerizing to look at – it simply floats in nothingness. The sporty Streamliner Tourbillon was a big hit last year, but the dressier Endeavour lineup is a bit more my style, so I'm glad this option exists in Moser's catalog now too.
While it may have started out as a bit of a joke, Moser continues to use Vantablack to make some seriously good-looking watches.
