Welcome to the sixteenth installment of "My Watch Story," a video series starring HODINKEE readers and their most prized watches. The submissions continue to stream in, and we couldn't be happier to share them with the watch community. Today, we have five new stories submitted by Garrett Kinsman, Doug Morton, Holger Henning, Riyad Seervai, and Mark Friedman.
Feeling inspired, or just discovering this project? Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to learn how to submit your own video. But first, we hope you enjoy this installment of My Watch Story.
Garrett Kinsman And His Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph
Garrett, who is from San Francisco, was in London last year for some meetings. While there, he browsed a few watch boutiques, but it was a Spring Drive Chronograph at the Grand Seiko boutique that caught his eye. As someone who works in tech, he was taken by the complexity of the Spring Drive movement, and soon after picked up a used version.
Doug Morton And His Zenith Pilot Montre D’Aeronef Type 20 Annual Calendar
Originally from Scotland, Doug lives in Norwich, England. He got married in 1990, and in 2015, he and his wife took a trip to New York City, where he bought this Zenith Type 20 to commemorate their 25th wedding anniversary. Five years later, Doug recorded this video on their 30th wedding anniversary.
Holger Henning And His Fortis Flieger Chronograph
Holger, who is from Germany, bought this Fortis in 2003 to celebrate completing Architecture school. While he's gone on to collect some of the more expensive watches he's long desired, this Fortis still gets a lot of time on his wrist. He plans on passing it down to his son.

Riyad Seervai And His Vacheron Constantin 6394Q
Originally from Bombay, India, Riyad currently lives in Houston, Texas. He got married last year, and when his parents asked what he'd like for his wedding, he requested a mechanical watch. His father's friend, an avid collector, recommended a vintage dress watch, and Riyad ended up with this yellow gold Vacheron 6394Q with satin dial.
Mark Friedman And His Rolex Explorer II
When Mark's father retired in 1999, he decided he wanted a Rolex, so Mark found him this Explorer II on eBay. When it arrived, his father was surprised that the dial was not pure white – and Mark, when he inquired at Wanna Buy A Watch? in his hometown of Los Angeles, learned that this was because the lacquer had faded over time. In the end, his father decided to keep it, and when he passed away eight years ago, he left the watch to Mark.
Ready To Submit Your Own Watch Story? Here's How It Works
1. Pick one watch that is very special to you, and get your camera phone ready.
2. Record a video telling us your most interesting or meaningful story about your watch. Let's say 2-3 minutes is the sweet spot – if you go longer, that's okay. (And please remember to introduce yourself: your name and where you are from.)
3. Get creative, keep it clean, and have fun!
4. Take some photos on the wrist and a few shots of the watch so that we can proudly display them on our site. Horizontal, please.
5. To share your video and photos, you can either A) upload here; or B) upload to your preferred large file transfer service and send a link to mywatchstory@hodinkee.com.
