Abraham-Louis Breguet founded Brequet in 1775, going on to pioneer many of the techniques used in watchmaking today. Now based in L'Abbaye, Switzerland, Brequet is known for its Heritage, Marine, La Tradition, and Classique product lines.

Breguet makes what was probably the world's first wristwatch, for the Queen of Naples.

The tourbillon is invented, to counteract the effects of gravity on the balance wheel and spring.

The "pare-chute" shock absorbing system is invented. Breguet famously demonstrated this invention by throwing a watch across the room at a party.

Breguet invents the circular gong for repeating watches, enabling very thin repeater movements.
